Mt. Gontakurayama is a 976 m peak in Taishin, Shirakawa City (Fukushima Prefecture), the highest point in Shirakawa and part of the Ōu Mountains separating the Nakadōri and Aizu regions. From the Hijirigaiwa trailhead a windhole course climbs to the summit in about 100 minutes; an alternate forest-road route from Tanozawa reaches the top in about 50. The summit panorama takes in the Nasu, Kashi, and Bandai ranges and Lake Hatori.
