Mt. Gongenyama

Gongen-yama is a roughly 397 m mountain in Kawabe Town, Gifu Prefecture, long known by the name Ontake-san and also called Asō Gongen-yama. Its mid-slope Hoshi Shrine enshrines the star deity Kagaseo-no-Mikoto, and the stone-stepped approach is dubbed the "Kumano Kodō of Gifu." From the summit observation decks one can see Mt. Ibuki, Mt. Kinka with Gifu Castle, and Mt. Ontake, and it is a noted spot for the first sunrise. It is one of the "Kawabe Seven Mountains."
