Mt. Ganjaku

Mt. Ganjaku is a 454-meter peak on the border between Soeda Town and Aka Village in Tagawa District, Fukuoka Prefecture, with the slopes scattered with giant boulders and unusual rock formations. The mountain served as a Hikosan-Shugendō training site, and its summit ridge preserves the ruins of Ganjaku-jo, a fortress built by order of Taira no Kiyomori. The trail from Soeda Park reaches the top in about an hour, and the Aka Village side hosts the famous "rock that won't fall."
