Mount Shaka is an 830.6 m peak in the northwestern part of Kunitomi Town (Higashi-Morokata District), Miyazaki Prefecture, marking the southern end of the Kyūshū Mountains. It is the central peak of Hokke-dake Prefectural Natural Park, and is named after the Shakyamuni Buddha image once enshrined at the summit by Hokke-dake Yakushi-ji Temple. A maintained trail leads up from Hokke-dake Park, and the mountain is listed in the Kyūshū 100 Mountains, the Miyazaki 100 Mountains, the Bunken Tozan Guide for Miyazaki Prefecture, and the 100 Famous Low Mountains of Japan (2017).
