Mount Misen is a 664 m peak in the Oyogi district of Ayabe, Kyoto Prefecture, whose graceful conical form has earned it the nickname 'Tamba Fuji.' Long revered as a Shugendō sacred mountain, it carries three shrines along the climb — Mikumari, Onaru, and the summit Kinpu Shrine — the last said to have been founded by the monk Gyōki in the 8th century. The 'Path of Reformation' pilgrimage trail is maintained as part of the Kinki Nature Trail, and the mountain is included in the Kansai 100 Famous Mountains.
