Mount Kōshōji

高照寺山

A 645-meter peak about 12 km south-southwest of central Iwakuni City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, with the summit area developed as the city-run Kōshōji-san Green Park. The Reigaku-yashiki ruins lie at the foot, the temple Chōhō-ji stands midway up the slope, and the cluster of radio relay towers around the summit has earned the top the nickname "Wireless Ginza." From the observation plaza and summit deck the view sweeps over the Iwakuni cityscape, the Seto Inland Sea and the Kunisai Basin, with cherry blossoms and azaleas in spring and crimson maples in autumn. Streamside walks, parking and toilets are maintained year-round. Listed in the Yamaguchi 100 Mountains, the Bōchō Hyakuzan and the Suō 100 Mountains rosters.
