Mount Kamegatake

Mount Kamegatake is a 539.4 m peak in Motoyama-cho, Fuchu City, Hiroshima Prefecture, also known as Hinomi-yama. The Nanatsuike Natural Park crowning the summit holds seven small ponds — including Hiraiwaike and Ōike — entwined with local serpent legends and the ruined precincts of Aomoku-ji, a mountain temple founded around 810. The summit ridge extends to neighbouring Mount Yao and the two are climbed together as the so-called Fuchū Alps. The peak is listed in both the Hiroshima Hyakuzan and the Hiroshima-ken Hyakumeizan.
