Mount Gongen

権現山

Mount Gongen is a 401.9 m peak on the boundary of Hisatama and Oniki in the Ushibuka area of Amakusa City, Kumamoto Prefecture. It forms part of the central ridge of the Ushibuka peninsula at the southern tip of Shimoshima and can be reached on a short forest-road hike from the Muryoji Temple side. A lookout below the summit offers views of Hisatama Bay, Ushibuka and Mount Tomi. Hisatama Gongen is associated with prayers for safe navigation.
