Gyonindake

Gyonindake is a sacred mountain of Nagashima and a former center of Shugendo practice in the Edo period. Zao Gongen and Fudo Myoo are enshrined at its summit, which overlooks the Amakusa islands, Izumi and Minamata, with distant views of Unzendake and Karakunidake. A road reaches the top, where parking and toilets are available. Northbound crane migration can be observed from mid-February through March.
