Shelter at about 970m in the upper Miomote river country on the western side of the Asahi range, in Murakami City, Niigata Prefecture, immediately south of the 990m spot height of Dorokujinmine. It stands partway along the Miomote trail, which runs from beyond the Okumiomote dam to Mt. Kanko, and Murakami City's Kankosan trail map marks the hut with a water-source symbol. By that map it is an hour and a half from the trailhead to the Heishiroza suspension bridge, another hour and a half to Miomote Goya, and three hours more to this hut; beyond it lie three and a half hours to Mt. Okamito and then Mt. Sagami and Sagami pond before Mt. Kanko, a route of 18,190m in all. The city rates this demanding line at fitness grade 10 and difficulty D on the Niigata mountain grading scale.
