Emergency shelter at Toritate-daira, about 1,240m and roughly 600m north-northeast of the summit of Toritateyama (1,307.2m) on the Fukui-Ishikawa border. It is the only facility with a toilet on the mountain in Katsuyama City's guidance for the area. The trailhead is the car park at the end of the forest road, about ten minutes by car beyond the former Higashiyama Ikoi-no-mori; it holds some 80 vehicles and the road toll is 500 yen per car. The loop route has few steep sections. In early spring skunk cabbage blooms nearby, usually at its best during Golden Week, and the ridge opens onto a panorama of the Hakusan range. The forest road normally opens once snow clearing finishes at the start of the fiscal year and closes again to snow in late November.
