From the parking area at Yurugi Shrine on the northwestern foot of Mount Sobo in Taketa, Oita, the loop climbs among old cedars to Yurugisan (1,046 m), once a castle site, then crosses Nagaoyama to Koshikidake and returns. Both peaks keep traces of Shugendo practice, and Koshikidake has a small shrine and a rock cave used for austerities. Yurugisan faces Mount Sobo up close, and the ridge looks out to Aso and the Kuju range.
