From the old castle town of Murakami, this return climbs the Nanamagari switchback path up the 135 m Gagyuzan, known locally as Oshiroyama, past the Yotsumon and Kabukimon gate sites to the honmaru with its keep base. A national historic site where Sengoku-period moats and gateways mingle with Edo-period stone walls, the summit overlooks the Sea of Japan, Awashima Island, the town and the Asahi range.
