This return hike climbs the quieter northwest side of Mount Tsukuba from the Yakuoin Trail parking area and visits both Nantai and Nyotai peaks. The route rises through cedar and mixed woodland, a steep stair section and a beech-covered ridge, then crosses Miyukigahara to link 871-metre Nantai-san with 877-metre Nyotai-san, the mountain's highest point.
