From the Kabuto-mukai trailhead, this return hike follows a wooded valley to Yunoki Pass, turns east onto the ridge, and climbs to the 676-metre summit of Mount Shakujo. The summit overlooks Lake Shakujo, Ise Bay, Kameyama, and the southern Suzuka mountains. Beyond the pass the ridge becomes steep, with rocky and chained sections immediately below the small summit, so careful footing is required.
