Starting at Hino Shrine in Nakahirabuki, Echizen, this return climbs past legendary rocks such as Yakimochi Rock, the Ishi-no-karato hollow and Benkei's triple cut to the Murodo hut and on to the 794 m summit of Mount Hino, crowned by the shrine's inner sanctuary. Called the Echizen Fuji for its graceful profile and revered as one of the five sacred peaks of Echizen opened by the monk Taicho, it looks out over the Fukui Plain.
